PLEA FROM A COLORADO NATIVE AMERICAN
by
By Allan Kari
February 2002
Hello!
My name is Allan Kari and I am a 25 year-old currently incarcerated in the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC). I'm writing this letter reaching out to those of you willing to help not just me, but my people as well, in our time of need.
Currently in CDOC, the Native American people must pay for all religious items in order for us to practice our religious beliefs. A lawsuit is in the works, hoping to change this, but until then we are left on our own. Our biggest help, NAPSG, is currently having financial problems of their own, and we are desperately trying to help them get back on their feet, but until we fix the current dilemma, we must look elsewhere for help.
Many of the Native American circles in the CDOC are low or completely out of religious material. I come to you humbly asking for money donations to help us continue our spiritual walk down the good red road.
If you are interested in helping, I ask that you send a money order to me at the following address:
Allan Kari
P. O. Box 3055
Rohnert Park CA 94927.
Thank you. Your help is greatly appreciated.
A side note: if you are reading this and would be interested in having a pen pal, I would love to correspond with you. Just include a note saying you would like to get acquainted and leave your address. I will get back to you ASAP.
