BECAUSE: We know that the ARGUS LETTER (sent before the bombing of Judi Bari) and the LORD AVENGERS LETTER (sent after the bombing and taking responsibility for it) were mailed in Mendocino County; and
BECAUSE: After a three year investigation, one of the country's leading attributional scholars Don Foster, picked out of dozens of blind samples, longtime Mendocino County resident Mike Sweeney (the ex husband of Judi Bari) as the most likely author of both of these letters; and
BECAUSE: Interviews with several of Judi Bari's close friends have confirmed that due to Mike Sweeneys violent past and the well known domestic abuse and dissention in the marriage at the time of the bombing there have been long standing suspicions about Mike Sweeney's involvement in the 1990 bombing; and
BECAUSE: Mike Sweeney is unable to precisely account for his wherabouts in the 24 hour period immediately preceding the bombing; and
BECAUSE: While the undersigned support the current lawsuit against the F.B.I. for violating the civil rights of Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney and not pursuing an investigation into the bombing, the focus on the lawsuit is not enough; and
BECAUSE: There has been no official investigation of the 1990 bombing either by the appropriate law enforcement agencies or the mainstream media; and
BECAUSE: There are many people from a variety of media who are extremely skeptical about both the FBI's and the Earth First! version of events and they as well as many persons who were close to Judi Bari during her marriage collectively possess much insight and information which has NOT been solicited or heard by any investigation therefore
