Yet Another Open Letter to Darryl Cherney

Dear Darryl:

If you had accepted our invitation to join us in speaking to the environmental club at Chico State on Oct. 21 you could have made your points, whatever they are, regarding the latest information to come forth in the 1990 bombing. We know you went ballistic when you heard that Bruce Anderson, Ed Gehrman and myself had been invited to speak and it would have been just fine for you to be there with your point of view. That is what discussion is all about and it sure has been lacking from you in regard to these latest developments!!

Instead you chose to send an unknown person, who never gave his name or stated his agenda and was fuzzy on his facts and unclear on his history. All he did was end up alienating the audience with his outbursts and hostility. We have it all on videotape which I'd be happy to share with you at any time. Surely you would have done better to represent your opinions yourself.

If you are so confident in your position then why do those of us with a different opinion threaten you so?? Instead of simply stating your own truth you have spent the past few months attempting to discredit sincere, caring people and intimidate those who would listen to a point of view other than yours. You are on record as saying that you are "dedicated to finding the scum that bombed us" yet you will not appear at any forums with those of us who have spent the past three years attempting to do just that. We would be happy to meet with you in private if you don't want to meet in public.

Your unwillingness to talk to us is curious. What are you hiding and why are you hiding it?? Are you simply reluctant to admit that your version of history might be flawed and therefore are closed to any other possibilities??

And by the way when will the Redwood Summer Justice Fund do an open accounting of how all the money collected for the lawsuit is being spent?? Who is being paid from this fund and how much?? And if you do settle out of court how will that look?? There were several people at the event in Chico who had sent money to you and are interested in knowing this.

I am tired of arguing about the many and varying theories. There is enough evidence to pursue several of them starting with the ones put out in Steve Talbots 1991 documentary. None of us have the time, money and resources to do an official investigation but we could come together in calling for a very overdue look from the appropriate agencies that do. In a time where Jerry Falwell is sitting down with the gay community and Arabs and Jews are getting closer to a peace agreement one would think that you could sit down with people who used to be your friends and fellow activists and come up with a plan to work together to solve this case.

Sending secret plants to forums is underhanded and sneaky and reflects badly on your judgement. Try cooperation--it could yield results!!
