The Dark Age Continuum
Right Wing radio - half truths and misdirection - Asking the wrong questions because those answers don't matter.
I listen to a lot of right wing talk radio. It's important to know what they are being told to think about. They are very upset. Poor dears. Interestingly enough, it seems that the bill of rights is under siege by bill clinton. So, looking at the bright side, I was thinking about how wonderful it is that the right-wingers have noticed this. If only they could see "the big picture" I was thinking. They need our help. They have a lot of inertia and they're moving, they need to change their vector.
Next to what a big crook bill clinton is it's all they EVER talk about, their rights, their rights, their rights. That's the problem, they only think about their rights, - not unlike Hitler's black shirts, reactionary and ignorant- it's instructive to remember what happened to the black shirts when they outlived their usefulness to the third Reich. They got the axe.
You know a tree by it's fruit. What Reich are we on now, four or five? Cabals. Did you see the story this week regarding the new/old story of holocaust gold in Swiss banks. It's well documented that many of the same corporations that oppress us now vigorously supported the Third Reich, supported stalin, now they support China, Indonesia and a host of other slave states. Right wing talk radio remains virtually silent on the issue of corporate and ruling class responsibility, that's what makes it right wing. It's a question of balance. Who's really in charge? This question is never seriously explored beyond red-baiting demagoguery. It certainly isn't "the people." At least not mortal human beings. Immortal legal fictions are in charge - global corporations which exist to marginalize national sovereignty, centralize power and avoid personal responsibility for profit, profit uber alles.
The evisceration of the bill of rights these right wingers complain about so bitterly, happened and is based on precedents set in the reagan/bush administrations. Surreally they blame the clinton administration, - FOR POLICES THEY SUPPORTED - in the reagan/bush years. "Property doesn't have rights - people do", was just fine in the 1980's when the government went about seizing the assets of some ACCUSED dope smoker or leftist heretic. It was "morning in America" when Ronald Reagans injustice department started extra-legal confiscations in the name of the War On Drugs.
The truth is, whether it's in the name of the drug war, national security or economic policy, THE POLICIES OF THIS ADMINISTRATION AND CONGRESS ARE PART OF AN ABSOLUTE CONTINUUM FROM LONG BEFORE AND THROUGH REAGAN TO THE PRESENT.
As I've said before, I'll say it again. The only real difference is; the Clinton administration is it is crypto-fascist while bush/reagan were/are proto-fascist. It's a Good cop, bad cop thing, between competing cabals. Which is which, who is who? That depends on ones orientation.
I'd been fantasizing that the liberal corporatist government's treatment of right wing cause celebres' Randy Weaver and the Branch Davidians - their doubts about Oklahoma City - would create some awareness in this right wing of the function of legal PRINCIPLE and the presence of fascism. That their reaction to smog 2 and a variety of other usurpations of their constitution rights would be ample demonstration of one legacy of nazi Germany. The realization that "when they came for me there was no one left to speak or me" is always true.
I was hoping the inquisition would fade and this Dark Age would end.
Yeah right.
Today on Tweak the press, Sneaker of the House Newt Gingrich - the darling of the Republican Revolution (it is revolting) -comes out with a vow - among the top priorities of this congress (shouldn't it be regress?) will be to intensify this inquisitional drug war. My words, his agenda. Burn more "witches", imprison more "heretics", and steal more property. So much for the bill of rights.
It just seems evil to me.
What are we gonna do? What can we do? Reach out to them. Talk to them. Appeal to their interest. Don't let right wing corporatists monopolize talk radio. They'll hang up on you. Change you name every time. They'll lie and mischaracterize what you say. So what?! People are listening. If you're really good they'll hang up on you right away. It'll teach you to be concise and pack a lot of unconventional wisdom into a short amount of time. Link things together according the principle involved, show how oppression breeds oppression, the bill of rights has to apply to everyone or it applies to no one. Ask impertinent questions, it's fun, you can expose some fundamental hypocrisies that way. Like, isn't it interesting that Cuba can provide health care and education for all of it's citizens, but the U.S. can't? There are not nearly enough of people doing that. It's all a question of balance - they don't know what they don't know - let's get some actual left wing analysis into the liberal corporate media. Challenge the conventional wisdom promulgated by this bought priesthood of apologists for corporate power.
