The following is a series of exchanges I had regarding the nature of the political debate on reich wing radio with a letter writer to the Sonoma County Free Press.

Our detractive letter writer begins:

An open comment to the sheepople that listen to KPFA.

If you want freedom from the "Government Media Complex" switch to KSFO AM 560 the real home of free thought and speech in the Bay Area.

Tune into kkksfo for free speech?

That's a good one. fofl (fall on the floor laughing). They won't even let me talk on their air.

They can't get past their irrational hatred of bill clinton to see the FACT that corporate control over everything is the problem and that our corrupt government is their tool.

I would agree that our government is corrupt.

For example both Rep. & Dem. want illegal hear so as to undermine salaries of the middle class (keeping wages down, and profits up) and to marginalize, and disenfranchise people. Also to create a manipulatable welfare sucking under class, without witch they would not have reason for there fiefdom's to run with abusive power, and to over tax us for.

This is the same wonderful group of people that put MTBE in the fuel polluting the air & water, drugging the kids with anti-depressants, selling us out with GAT and NAFTA, and trying to steel our constitutional right to own and bare arms.

Yes, it is a corrupt cesspool of filth that is running the government (elected or not).

As to the Convicted Lier, and accused Rapist he is both Amoral and a Murderer.

Who soled out to China for his own greed, and put the US in danger for generations to come( I have two small kids ). He bombs aspirin factories for a "Wag the Dog", does a 21 year old FAT Brentwood Slut,  Kills 80 men woman and children in TX, and he is a War Criminal to boot (though not convicted as of yet).

I ask you what is not to like about this wonderful guy?

You may not agree with me, but I do not believe that this is irrational.  This is not someone to look up to or like, would you like to have him around your wife and kids. I don't.

So much fun that before I responded he put out yet another breathless analysis of reich wing real politik:

Now that KPFA appears to be on the skids, partially because many of the 60's dinosaurs have either burned out, faded away, or better yet, grown out of their youthful fantasy world, and maybe because KPFA is on the far left fringes of "reality", I have a suggestion as to where discussion is reality-based, factual, well researched and intelligent. Try tuning into KSFO 560AM. Of course, having been a staunch lefty who relied on my news from the likes of Dan Rather, Abbie Hoffman, and my other 60's cronies for my first 35 years, I know all the shallow stereotypes that are hurled at libertarians like myself - bigoted, fascist, intolerant. These attacks are knee jerk, shallow and intellectually void of any substance, yet they are the manna of the left today.

I still find it astounding that my 60's buds who so protested the government, and talked about freedoms, now puts its faith so strongly in such a corrupt, neo-Marxist propaganda machine that is the Clinton gang, led by a sociopath so devoid of a conscience that he is willing to not only lie about anything and everything, but is willing to bomb an aspirin factory with innocent people in it, and virtually bomb a country back to the stone age for his legacy. To the core, however, he believes that the hard earned money that you and I work our asses off for, belongs to the federal government for their grand utopian schemes. This no country has ever taxed itself into prosperity. I'm astounded that the so-called freedom loving KPFA crowd now prefers government running the country and redistributing wealth.

Read on. Here's some real irony for you. Ann Coulter, one of our sharpest minds in America today, wrote in an article:

"The idea that this most fascistically controlling of political parties believes in giving people the right to "choose," is so completely preposterous as to send rational people screaming from the room.  On account of policies promoted by Democrats, you can't "choose" how to spend almost fully one half of your own money, whom you will employ or dobusiness with, to whom you may rent your extra bedroom, how many peanuts you may grow, what school your children will attend, how many gallons of water you can have in your toilet, or what to do with your land if there's a puddle on it and it is designated a federal "wetland." The one narrow aspect of your life you may "choose" is whether to rip a little baby apart. Orwell couldn't have done better, though he might have titled abortion mills "Minsteries of Love." "

I listen to kkksfo a lot, that's why I know what I'm talking about. If I'm allowed at all they don't allow me to talk on "their" air for more than one breaths worth, at which time they hang up and mischaracterize my position with straw man lies and other ad hominem non sequiter atttacks.

Reality Check - Politcal Trichotomy

kksfo and the republicans represent the far right, kgo and the democrats represent the near right, Pacifica and KPFA used to represent progressives - i.e. the ACTUAL left, a trichotomy if you will.

The narrow minded thinking you display by condemning the democrats to me, as if they are the left "edge" of the spectrum, illustrates the fact that you are just one more tired sucker buying into the corporate media's FALSE dichotomy. One of the biggest lies of the century is that the spectrum of necessary debate consists of a conflict between conservatives like raygun and so-called liberals like bull clinton - incessantly demogogued by monsters like the aptly named mikel savage as committed leftists. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I have been told on numerous occasions by producers at kgo (kkksfo producers simply hang up when I ask about their hypocrisy and abridgment of my 1st amendment rights) that talk radio "is entertainment", "it's not about free speech." Disney radio is in the business of selling the attention spans of consumers to other corporations - concurrent with the manufacture of consent for the near right/far right hustle and corporate agenda.

Ask yourself a question Rich, if bull clinton and ronn owens (note: a kgo "leftist") are committed far leftists - which according to the opinion managers at kkksfo they are - what does that make the critics of the clinton administration at KPFA. The correct answer to this question - clinton near right, raygun far right, KPFA actual left - is oblique proof as to the artificial truncation of debate in this country by the corporate opinion managers and demogogues at kkksfo and kgo.

(I hope your response is not a mindless facetious sneer worthy of the perfectly named savage nation monster  (note: kkksfo demagogue) - in which case I'm wasting my time, you are lost)

Listen to you - "corrupt, neo-Marxist propaganda machine that is the Clinton gang", that's manifestly absurd - this is your brain on kkksfo. It is clinton liberals that are behind this coup at KPFA, this is a battle over free speech vs. popular speech.

Telling the truth about the common crimes and perfidies of the raygun and clinton administrations is what KPFA has been up to and now they are being destroyed for it. Pretending there is a difference and ignoring important commonalities;  it's what kkksfo and kgo DO.

For instance, " The massive drug operation run out of the Mena airport during Clinton's term as governor of Arkansas; Hillary Clinton's involvement with S&L fraud and the INSLAW fraud; the CIA-enabled, Contra-run enterprise to import tons of cocaine to the US; the ongoing US-engineered holocaust in Iraq.  KPFA and WBAI (note: pre-coup non-corporate radio stations) has consistently covered material, in significant detail, that no other broadcast unit in the US and very, very few print outlets have been willing to tackle."

Bottom line? Since KPFA violates "the oldest rule of all" as a way of life, it's both liberals and conservatives behind the corporate coup at pacifica. (Love me, I'm a Liberal by Phil Ochs) Sadly Rich, kkksfo is not a source of free speech, I wish it was.

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your impassioned point of view. I think we both agree that there is mind-boggling corruption throughout the political spectrum. I also know that you are "critical" of Bill Clinton; however, I happen to believe that he is not simply a brilliant, wonderful, man who has a great heart and wants so badly to do the right thing, but is just slightly flawed by a little zipper problem. This is what the people I see in the mainstream media report - Rather, Brokaw et al. For many reasons, based on a lot of credible research I have done, I believe that the man is evil, point blank.

You and I primarily differ on vision and philosophy. I believe in a more Laisse Faire society without massive taxes, regulation and government involvement in every aspect of our lives. I believe that the reason for our greatness is looking at the mistakes of failed socialist countries and creating a freer society. That's why we're the richest, most envied, and most resented country in the world. When government grows to the point that 50% of the sweat of my brow goes to a wasteful government, and no matter how much we send, every year the budget expands, then we are sliding toward socialism, which does not work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that if the ACTUAL Left was running the show, the 50% figure would not be nearly enough to satisfy the voracious appetite of government, which as far as I'm concerned, only gets in the way of freedom and progress. I'm interested in your thoughts on the matter.
