Dear Mr. Ronson:

This letter is to let you know that I read the Esquire (British, May 2001) article and viewed the video you made about your experience at Bohemian Grove in the summer of 2000. I am deeply upset and disappointed in the shallow tone and content of both pieces and feel that you enlisted my help under false pretenses.

When I was first approached by John Sergeant about this project I was told that you wanted to make documentaries about several places where the planetary ruling elite meet. I was led to believe that these would be serious investigative explorations which would utilize the research our group (and others) have done over the past twenty years regarding the negative role these men play in the financial, corporate, judicial, military and governmental circles of this country and the planet.

Instead, in both the article and the film, we got an interpretation of Bohemian Grove through the questionable eyes of one Alex Jones who as far as I knew was never part of the original deal. The bizarre conclusions of these pieces totally trivializes the work we have done over twenty years and marginalizes us as serious activists making a serious point. The tone of both pieces is silly and irreverent and makes it sound as though the whole goal is to get inside the Grove. Aside from the fact that Mr. Jones is NOT the first person to do this as he claims, our goal has never been to get inside.

The point of our protests has always been to educate the public about who these men are, the policy issues floated at the Lakeside Talks and the enormous profits they make at the expense of the rest of us. We are concerned about their impact on the OUTSIDE WORLD not the silly things they do inside. I thought I had made that point clear to you and your crew but you chose to totally ignore it seeking to entertain instead of to educate.

I feel I was used in a most cynical way giving you my time and energy even after I told you I was in the middle of a family crisis with my daughter's cancer. You have put me at risk writing in the article that I gave you a map and I have had to put in alot more time and energy disclaiming your final result. Are you so opportunistic that you just don't care about the people you ask to help you?? You also missed an opportunity to do a real public service which was the reason I decided to work with you in the first place.

I would like to hear from you and/or John Sergeant who I also trusted as to why this project deteriorated into such a squandered opportunity. In a way I don't blame Alex Jones as much since he is obviously a fool that is making his living off of sensationalism. In one radio program that I heard he actually claimed that the residents of Monte Rio are brain dead and used for human sacrifice at the Grove. That's not only dumb but insulting to our community!!

I thought you were serious journalists but if you were it's hard to understand why you would associate with anyone as wacko as Mr. Jones. I hope you can make another effort to use your journalistic connections to do a story that still needs to be told.
