CALL TO ACTION!

DEFEND WARD VALLEY!

You will be asked to come to Ward Valley in the next few days or week as soon as we know the date the government will attempt to make their move.

Call 760/326-6267 or 415/566-3475 for updates.

We're making a stand to stop the nuclear waste dump and protect sacred Indian land, the desert tortoise, and the Colorado River.

Department of Interior on Friday, January 16 announced the issuance of permits to the CA Department of Health Services and Federal officials for drilling and tritium tests at Ward Valley. The testing would desecrate at least 1½ acres of land which is sacred to the Indian Nations of the

Colorado River area who have lived in this area since time immemorial. The Tribes are furious that Interior totally ignored tribal and environmental concerns and breached its fiduciary responsibility to protect the environment and trust resources of the Indian Nations. The Tribes have opposed the proposed dump since the beginning, and will tolerate no further damage to Ward Valley.

WHERE TO GO: When arriving in Needles please check in at the Save Ward Valley office at 107 F Street before going out to Ward Valley.

Take Interstate 40 to Needles, CA. Exit at J Street, go to Broadway, turn right to F St., left on F St., office on right.

We are asking people to come to Ward Valley for a mass, nonviolent sustained direct action. We will act with the guidance and direction of the Tribes and Elders to defend the land. We will gather in direct resistance as well as legal protest. We demand President Clinton intervene now and stop the proposed dump once and for all.

Please bring the following things to Ward Valley:

*lots of friends, family, co-workers!

*lots of water (10 gallons if possible), food, toilet paper, garbage bags

*tent, sleeping bag, hat, warm clothes, rain gear, stove, eating utensils, cup, backpack, flashlight

*absolutely no drugs, alcohol, weapons, dogs. Respect and do not touch the desert tortoise.

Nonviolence training is essential to participate in the action. Call Save Ward Valley at 760/326-6267 for information, to volunteer and to donate.
